Rock Band gets sued again

District court expected to ask why case wasn't filed sooner

US-based MMR magazine has reported that video games publisher Konami has filed suit against Harmonix, MTV Networks, and Viacom, claiming that their game Rock Band infringes on three of the company's patents on instrument-based video games.  The suit comes just months after guitar maker Gibson sued Viacom over Rock Band, alleging that it violated a similar patent for a virtual-reality music simulation setup that it never actually produced. According to Wired, the Konami patents are much more similar and they actually released several different guitar-and-drums music games in Japan before Guitar Hero and Rock Band ever came onto the scene.   The lawsuit will be dealt with by the US District Court for the eastern division of Texas, which is expected to enquire – as in the case of Gibson’s suit – as to why it wasn't filed sooner.mmrmagazine.com
